CONTENT. The show will be shot in documentary style, filming training activities at the bases, and the work in the air and on the ground when fires erupt. The emphasis and focus will be on the firefighters on the fire lines. The important mission of wildland firefighters and the results of their work – that benefit the country in countless ways – will be the ongoing theme of the series.

STYLE. Stunning HD camerawork will capture the activities of the firefighters. We will document the events as a narrative long form documentary.

LOGISTICS. Wildland firefighters are on call 24/7 during the fire season. Our camera crews will do the same. They will record the training for both rookies and veterans, and follow the crews to the fires when possible.

However, filming will not be constant and will not focus on events not related to firefighting. We intend to film several days of training for the smokejumpers and other firefighters. After training has been completed, we will film intermittently, as events dictate.

We will also employ several methods of consolidating filming. For example, we do not need to film every crew getting ready to go out on every call. We will only have to film the smokejumpers prepping a handful of times and can use different takes throughout the documentary. The same goes for takeoffs, landings, and parachuting. Cameras will be mounted on aircraft, and some firefighters will be equipped with a small video camera if approved by the Forest Service. This will also reduce the number of hours camera crews will have to
film.

Scheduling of filming will always be coordinated with the base manager and other officials as required by the Forest Service. Crews will adhere strictly to the rules and restrictions imposed by the Forest Service.

SAFETY. All SMG crew members will undergo approved Forest Service fire safety training and will adhere strictly to all rules, regulations, guidelines, and directives of the Forest Service. SMG crew members will wear appropriate gear and carry necessary safety equipment at all times. We will contract with a Forest Service approved fire safety officer who will accompany our crews at all times.
